About Me:

Rose Currie (she/her)

Clinical Psychologist & Board Approved Supervisor

MPych (Clin), PGradDip (Pysch), BEng (Med), MACPA

The thing I love most about being a psychologist is being able to see the change that is possible.

Often, starting therapy can be a confusing time. My approach is to spend time for us both to understand your experience beyond symptoms and diagnostic labels. So we can see you, wherever you are at.

I aim to focus on expanding self-understanding, and appreciate that this is different for everybody. My goal is to help you take an active role in your path towards change, which I hope will continue even after therapy ends.

Much like how your body knows how to heal itself, I believe that all of us have inside of us a knowledge and drive for how to heal ourselves from emotional wounds and conditioning. My goal is to create an environment where you can feel safe being the most honest version of your own self.

I use an experiential approach that is trans-diagnostic, emotion-focused and privileges the here-and-now in sessions. This may feel different to what you are used to, and it helps to stay open and curious to the process. Unfamiliar experiences can be a catalyst for change, and I believe that experiencing ourselves differently in the therapy room is a big part of seeing the changes needed to reduce suffering and improve vitality.

Growing evidence supports the long-term outcomes of Experiential Dynamic Therapies (EDTs), which are psychodynamic models that emphasise in-session emotional processing. I am committed to ongoing training and supervision, and have training in AEDP (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy), ISTDP (Intensive Short Term Psychodynamic Psychotherapy), MBT (Mentalization-Based Therapy), as well as other psychodynamic and attachment-informed models. I also have training in CBT and DBT and may draw from a variety of approaches to find the right fit for clients. I believe that my job as a therapist is to work collaboratively, and that the therapeutic relationship is the key to change.

I am a board approved supervisor and offer supervision, including for general psychologists completing their clinical psychology registrar program.

I offer sessions in person on Tuesdays and Fridays, and over telehealth video call (using end-to-end encryption) on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
